Inauguration Speech on Collaboration between TATA Electronics, SASTRA University, Yuan Ze University & Asia University

Address by Dr. Jyh-Yang Wu, President of Yuan Ze University

Good Afternoon everyone, on behalf of Yuan Ze University, I would like to thank you for giving us this great opportunity to attend this event and sign an MoU with TATA and SASTRA University, and Asia University. The MoU is the first step for our further collaborations in the near several years.

Yuan Ze University was founded in 1989 by the Far Eastern Group. Even though our university is still very young, we are working hard to build up exceptional programs for our students, including international students. Now we have more than one thousand international students.

Our university has been known for its engineering programs in Taiwan since the 1990s. We now have five colleges, including three engineering colleges. The colleges are the College of Engineering, College of Informatics, and College of Electrical Engineering and Communication. In the upcoming years, we will support new technology initiatives, such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, biotechnology, smart manufacturing, and Fintech.

Taiwan also played an essential role in the semiconductor industry, especially IC design and semiconductor manufacturing. TSMC, a Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company, is one of the best semiconductor manufacturing companies in the whole world. Even compared with Samsung and Intel, most people believe TSMC is the best semiconductor manufacturing company now. This company has worked with our university and some of our alumni have been hired by this company. I have encouraged our professors to set up several wonderful programs, especially semiconductor manufacturing. This is a great opportunity to work with experts in the field of semiconductors. Furthermore, our students will hopefully reap the benefits of this program and our continued partnership in the coming years.

In closing, I also want to express my sincere thanks to SASTRA
